Description

Scope:

The Operator Dimple Sheet Extrusion operates extrusion lines in our 24/7 production operation in Beamsville, ON, working 12-hour continental shifts or rotating 8-hour shifts.

Role:

The Operator’s role is to operate a “Dimple Sheet” extrusion line with focus on Safety, Quality and Productivity. The Operator is accountable for all aspects of manufacturing of the respective products per established Standard Operating Procedures, including extrusion, winding, and packaging, etc.

Requirements

Education/Qualification:

-Secondary school graduate (e.g., high school diploma)
-Electrical, mechanical, or automotive technician diploma/education, training and experience in plastics extrusion, or suitable educational background and sufficient experience with production equipment highly desired.
-Education/experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban, TPM, etc. highly desired.

Work Experience:

-Minimum 2 years’ experience in a production environment.
-Experience in plastics processing (e.g., extrusion, injection molding) highly desired.
-Experience in working with automated equipment highly desired.
-Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
-Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., Health & Safety Awareness for Workers per OHSA) highly desired.
-Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System highly desired.
-Experience with lift truck or overhead crane operation highly desired.

-Fluent in reading and writing English
-Valid driver’s license (Class G); unless residence is in walking distance from work
-Physically able to sit, stand and walk around for long periods at a time, and repeatedly lift up to 23 kg unassisted
-Regular attendance and punctuality are vital attributes for all employees. It is imperative for employees to attend work regularly and to arrive at work on time. Failure to do so has a detrimental effect on employee morale and productivity.

Working Conditions:

-Shift work in a 24h/7d production environment
-rotating 12-hour shifts (continental shifts) with shift times 7am–7pm and 7pm–7am (alternating 36h and 48h weeks are averaged to 84h per 2-week pay period)
or
-rotating 8-hour shifts with shift times 7am–3pm; 3pm–11pm; 11pm–7am (40h per week)
-work times may be changed at any time based on company needs as the sole discretion of the company
-Occasional overtime as needed (pre-approved by management)
-100% on-site
